FLIGHTS to the world’s third newest country will be available to passengers from Newcastle Airport.

Airline has launched packages to the former Yugoslav nation of Montenegro.

Graeme Mason, planning director at the airport, said the service will run twice a week.

“Montenegro is a very exciting addition to the fast-growing portfolio of destinations spanning across the globe with, from Newcastle Airport.

“And we hope the North East flying public take the opportunity to experience yet another new holiday hot spot.”

The country provided the setting for Daniel Craig’s first James Bond film, Casino Royale.

It is hoped Wearside holidaymakers will start choosing the destination, as well as Pula in Croatia, which was also recently announced as a destination from Newcastle.

Steve Heapy, of Jet2holidays, said: “It’s an exciting place to visit, and offers a unique and special experience for those seeking something a bit different.”
