Five in court after house shot at in Sunderland street

Ellis Dobbing, Jevan Doyle, John Bailey, Steven Palmer and Marc Bogie appeared before a district judge at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court this morning.

All face charges of conspiracy to possess a firearm to enable another person to endanger life.

They are also charged with possession of ammunition to enable another person to endanger life; and conspiracy to enable another person to endanger life.

All three counts cover a period between February 1 and March 31, this year.

The case comes after a window was shot at in Edgmond Court, Hollycarrside, on February 29. Nobody was in the property at the time and nobody was hurt.

Palmer is also charged with possession of heroin with intent to supply, on May 5.

No pleas were taken to any of the charges and three of the five defendants were released on bail, while the remaining two were remanded in custody until a pre-trial hearing at Newcastle Crown Court, on November 23.

District Judge Roger Elsey released Doyle, 22, on bail, on the condition that he surrenders his passport and resides at his home address of Fordenbridge Road, Sunderland, and that he does not communicate with prosecution witnesses.

Bogie, 29, of Leechmere Road, Sunderland, was bailed on the same condition, with an additional tagged curfew between 7pm and 7am.

Bailey, 32, whose home address is Fordfield Road, Sunderland, was bailed on condition that he resides out of the area, at an address given in Peterlee. He must also surrender his passport, not communicate with prosecution witnesses, report to Peterlee Police Station on weekdays and be subject to a tagged curfew between 7pm and 7am.

Palmer, 32, of Neville Road, South Denton, Newcastle, and Ellis Dobbing, 23, of Ashdale Court, Sunderland, were both remanded in custody until their next court date.
