FIREFIGHTERS had to force entry into a block of flats in Washington after being called to a suspected fire.

Crews from Washington Fire Station were called to Arklecrag in Albany at 8.30pm on Thursday to reports of a suspected fire in a communal boiler house.

The alarm was caused by a defective boiler.

Watch manager Gary Carabine said: “We had to force entry as no key-holder was available.”
