Fire fighters tackle two car blazes

FIRE fighter were called out to two car blazes in a matter of hours in Sunderland last night.

A crew from Sunderland Central Fire Station turned out to waste land at the rear of St Luke’s Road in Pallion, Sunderland, at 6.30pm after a Renault Camper van was found alight.

The vehicle was destroyed by the blaze, which was swiftly extinguished by the fire crew.

At 11.30pm, a crew from Sunderland Central Fire Station received reports of a second car fire, on Windermere Street, Sunderland.

A Hyundai car had minor damage after quick-thinking residents helped to put out the fire prior to the arrival of the service.

Fire fighters then remained at the scene to ensure the area was safe and the fie was completely extinguished.

The fire service say the cause of both fire is being investigated by police.
