Fourteen fire fighters tackled a large blaze at Pallion allotments in Sunderland this morning.

Crews from Sunderland Central, North Moor and Marley Park fire stations were called to the blaze at Pallion Allotment on European Way, Sunderland, around 4.50am.

They used main jets to put out the blaze and moved a horse from a stable nearby to one further away from the blaze. It was uninjured.

Around four sheds and one caravan in one large allotment were 100% destroyed by the fire.

Crews left the scene at 6.50am.

No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
