Fire crews tackle loft blaze in Sunderland home

Crews from Marley Park, Sunderland and North Moor, were called to the fire in the loft of a home on Lichfield Road at 10.27pm on Friday night.

Fire fighters used one hose reel jet, two breathing apparatus and one positive pressure ventilator, to put out the blaze at the three-bedroomed semi-detached property.

The loft area and the stairs of the property were 80% damaged by fire.

The neighbouring property was also evacuated after occupants said they could smell smoke.

Two breathing apparatus were conveyed to the property along with one hose reel jet as a precaution and the loft area was smoke damaged.

No one was injured.
