Fire crews attend Sunderland's Gleneagles Road following a blaze at a house

Firefighters have called to a Sunderland street after reports of a blaze at a house.

Crews from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) have attended an address in Gleneagles Road, Grindon, Sunderland, this afternoon.

Teams from Farrington and Sunderland Central were called to the Grindon street at around 3.45pm.

The incident is still ongoing and firefighters remain at the scene tackling the blaze.

A spokeswoman for TWFRS told the Echo: “We received reports of a house fire in Gleneagles Road this afternoon at around 3.45pm.

“One crew from Sunderland Central and another one from Farrington have attended the incident.

“At this time, they are still at the scene dealing with the incident.”

Detail are not yet known what the cause of the fire is or if anyone has been injured.
