Finding cuts not an excuse

The article on January 11 under the heading '“ free school travel for disabled teenagers faces axe as Sunderland struggles with funding cuts stated: 'Hundreds of parents of teenagers with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) could be asked to pay towards their travel to school or college.

“It’s a move which would save cash strapped Sunderland City Council about £100,000 per year.”

Perhaps, though, they wouldn’t have been so cash strapped had they not recently given one of their senior parks managers a ‘golden goodbye’.

How many others has the council paid off in the same way?

How much money has our “cash strapped” council given away in this manner?

Isn’t it really time Sunderland Council provided the services the people of this city are entitled to?
