THE LAST five jobs at City Link’s Durham depot are to go, administrators for the delivery firm have confirmed.
Fifty-one people were made redundant from the depot on the Belmont Industrial Estate on New Year’s Eve.
Now have announced a further 230 redundancies which will take effect over the coming eight days.
Administrator Hunter Kelly said: “It is with regret that we announce further redundancies at City Link Limited, which will take effect over the coming days as the Company’s remaining UK depot operations close.
“Having returned a large volume of parcels to City Link Limited’s customers and recipients over recent days, it is no longer viable to continue operating these depots and a phased plan to close them has begun.”
All employees affected have been informed of the anticipated closure dates. Administrators will be writing to them to officially confirm their redundancy and offer guidance on how to claim redundancy payments from the Government.
All workers made redundant this week have been paid for December in full, and overtime will be paid on January 9. They will be paid for time worked in January 2015 on the Company’s usual January pay date.
