SIR Bobby Robson’s son has told of his father’s strength in the final days of his life.
Mark Robson, 48, said his dad was so ill with cancer at his 2009 football testimonial that he could not speak and had lost much of his sight.
Sir Bobby died just five days later, aged 76, after fighting off the disease four times previously.
Mark said of his dad’s appearance at Newcastle United’s stadium in front of 30,000 fans: “He was determined to be there.
“The only way we could tell what he was feeling was that he was clenching his fists. We knew it meant he was angry and wanted us to take him.”
Mark spent Christmas with brothers Paul, 54, and Andrew, 52, and mum Lady Elsie Robson, 77.
They said £3.9million has been donated to Sir Bobby’s cancer-fighting charity and 1,000 patients have been treated.
