AN EVENTS team which makes dreams come true has been praised as “the most fantastic bunch of people”.
The warm tribute to Sunderland-based Make My Day Events came after it was nominated - numerous times - for a What’s On Where award.
Delighted Debbie Hayes, who founded Make My Day Events with her partner Mark Shields just over a year ago, described the nomination as “unreal.”
But she was keen to pass on the praise to the 25 young people that it has on its books, saying: “They put themselves out whenever we ask them to do something.”
Make My Day Events provides a full range of bespoke family-themed theatrical events tailored to meet the client’s requirements.
Its work is so appreciated by the people of Wearside that they came out in force to nominate Make My Day for an award.
One nomination said: “Their superheroes are amazing, their princess clubs are great, their shows are fantastic and their visits to hospices and childrens wards are a beautiful thing to do.”
Another commented: “Fantastic people skills and amazing singers and performers.”
And a third said: “Make My Day Events are exceptional at providing magical experiences with their performances.”
Debbie is a former teacher and her partner Mark used to be a plumber. She described the nominations as “incredible. It is the young people that work for us that deserve it more than me and Mark. It is their passion and drive and commitment that makes so many little people happy”.
The What’s On Where awards are held in association with our weekly entertainments guide, Wow 24/7.
They aim to reward the elite in categories which range from restaurants to children’s venues, takeaways to parks and community areas, and hotels to the best shopping experience.
We want you to nominate your favourites in each of the categories listed on this page.
The deadline for entries is February 5. After that, we’ll reveal the winners on February 26 in a glittering finale at the Best Western Roker Hotel.
