Fan blog: Why I love Sunderland AFC, by eight-year-old Matthew Willis

I'm Matthew and I'm eight years old. I've supported Sunderland since I've been able to walk!

Over the years, I have seen Sunderland have a lot of managers - I think there's been five since I've supported them!

We need to stick with one manager for longer. I'm hoping that David Moyes is the right one for us and he helps to keep us up in the Premier League.

I went to my very first away game this season and travelled to Anfield and back in a day. Even though we lost 2-0 it was still a very exciting day. We had seats right behind Pickford! I'll always remember it.

I can't put my finger exactly on what it is that makes me love Sunderland so much. It's like a family team. The atmosphere on match days is electric and I always join in with the songs, although sometimes I don't think I sing the right words!!

I was there at the training day recently and was ridiculously excited to meet the players. Lamine Kone and Jermain Defoe are my favourite players. There's not many clubs out there that would do this for their fans.

I'd love to play for Sunderland when I'm bigger. Doing what I love most - playing football. The crowds, chants, the buzz of a match day. There will be nothing better.

I have faith we will stay up this season. We battle. We try. We are Sunderland AFC.
