A TOUCHING tribute to doting dad and Echo man Ian Laws was hung outside the Stadium of Light ahead of yesterday’s FA Cup tie.
Tributes continued to pour in for the Echo’s digital editor and former football writer, 41, who died suddenly on Thursday.
However, the most poignant of them all was left outside the stadium that Ian was so passionate about.
Left on behalf of his three children, Lauren, James and Millie, the Black Cats football shirt bears a picture of Ian with the word “Daddy” below.
Wearside was left in shock when the sad news of Ian’s death broke on Friday. Hundreds of people took to Twitter to express their grief, with “Ian Laws” trending on the social networking website.
Sunderland AFC’s Margaret Byrne, Sir Bob Murray and Niall Quinn were among those who paid tribute to popular Ian.
