A HOSPITAL team which helps hundreds of sick children has been praised for its “fabulous” levels of care.
The 23-strong team at Ward F63 at Sunderland Royal Hospital is in the running for a Best of Health award.
The nomination has come from an Echo reader who said: “The staff on ward F63 are fabulous and deserve an award for dealing each day with children of all ages and some in distressed states.”
The news brought delight to ward manager Maria Lynn and her team. Maria said: “We are really proud. We have got a good team here and we work closely together. We are a happy ward and we like to bring fun into the ward area.”
Ward F63 deals with children’s ear, nose and throat as well as general surgery and orthopaedics.
Maria said the ward does regularly get positive feedback from the parents of children who have been treated on the ward, often on websites and often from children who have to return for treatment more than once.
“We do have a good rapport,” she admitted.
Entries for the awards closed yesterday.
Now, judges will meet to begin the difficult task of narrowing down the field and drawing up a shortlist in each of our categories.
And all those who make it to the shortlist will be invited to the finals which will be held at the Stadium of Light on Thursday, April 16.
