Manager Dave Jones has moved quickly to reward the in-form central defender with new and improved terms.

It represents a dramatic change of fortunes for Harrison who was released by then boss Craig Hignett at the end of last season.

But Hignett did not completely close the door on the Teessider and said he was welcome to return to pre-season training in July to prove himself.

The 23-year-old did just that and has been a tower of strength at the back, where he has forged a great partnership with midfielder-turned-centre-haldf Brad Walker.

Harrison first joined Pools at the end of the 2013-14 on loan from Sunderland, making his debut for Colin Cooper's side in the 1-0 defeat at Portsmouth.

He made his stay permanent in February 2015 when his loan deal ended and played a full role in the Great Escape under Ronnie Moore.

Harrison made his 100th appearance for Pools in the win over Exeter City earlier this month.
