An ex-Hartlepool United player is set to cycle 515 miles and visit all of his former clubs for charity.
Former Pools striker Tony Lormor will be embarking on the challenge to raise £500 for the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust - which helps transform the lives of disadvantaged young people.
The 45–year–old, who scored more than 100 Football League goals, wants to use his profile to raise awareness as an athlete mentor.
He said: “I want to raise awareness of what Dame Kelly Holmes Trust does and raising money will be secondary, but I want to do something unique that no one else has done – a bike ride taking in the seven football clubs I signed for on a permanent basis.”
Tony will begin at Preston North End’s Deepdale ground before cycling to Newcastle United and over the course of five days taking in Hartlepool United, Chesterfield, Mansfield Town, Lincoln City and

His training has been supervised by four-time Olympian Bryan Steel who specialises in cycling coaching.
The challenge will finish at the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust headquarters in London on Tuesday, September 27.
Tony’s passion for his current job and a desire to let more people know about it is behind his gruelling cycle trek.
He said: “I’ve just finished running the Trust’s Get on Track course in Nottingham, with young adults classed as ‘NEET’ - not in education, employment or training.
“It’s a motivational course with a number of activities that stretch young people facing disadvantage and empowers them to find out about themselves and what they want to do.
“We finished the course with all 18 people and they all found out what they wanted to do and through the programme they found a pathway to get into it.
“But I realised in Nottingham no one had really heard about what we were trying to do. There’s something great going on but it’s under the radar. I want to try and get the word out.”
Emma Atkins, chief executive at Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, said:“We are delighted that Tony is giving his time, energy and efforts to support Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.
“As a charity, we rely on the generosity and passion of individuals like Tony to help us continue our vital work. Please back his fundraising efforts so that Dame Kelly Holmes Trust can continues supporting more people to reach their full potential.”
