Events set to celebrate church trust’s 21 years

A MUSIC festival will be among the celebratory events which recognise a Wearside church trust’s 21st birthday.

The Friends of Houghton Parish Church Trust is celebrating more than two decades since it was formed.

On Tuesday, May 6, a choir reunion takes place at Kepier Hall at 7.30pm, while on Thursday, May 8, Houghton Brass band will perform a concert at the parish church, with tickets priced £5 each.

On Saturday, May 10, a coffee morning will be held at St Michael’s Church before Kepier Hall hosts a music of the ’70s and ’80s event with group Zen also set to play. The annual organ concert will be performed on Monday, May 12, with Dr Gordon Stewart performing. Tickets are £7 and can be bought on the 

Wednesday, May 14, sees The Gilpin Singers and Church Choir play the Parish Church at 7pm. It will be conducted by the Rev Frances Wilson.

The group will be playing a collection of popular old pieces and some new ones as well.
