A B&B boss has been fined £4,750 for breaching a planning enforcement notice by allowing a hand car wash to operate on the site.

Bijan Samadi, owner of the Lodge B&B and pub – formerly the Pot and Glass – at Crossgate Moor, Durham City, admitted the charge at Consett Magistrates’ Court.

The 50-year-old, of Osprey Close, Esh Winning, had originally been served with an enforcement notice by Durham County Council in 2009 relating to the unauthorised change of use of The Lodge.
