Sunderland thrown into darkness for Earth Hour

THE lights are going out at two Sunderland landmarks to send out a green message.

 The floodlights at St Peter’s Church and Penshaw Monument will be switched off for an hour at the end of the month in support of the World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour.

 Wearsiders are being invited to join in the effort by switching off their lights for one hour.

 Earth Hour takes place from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on Saturday, March 31.
