Have your say

THERE’S still time for you to celebrate your favourite place in Sunderland.

Last month we teamed up with Sunderland City Council and the Love Where You Live Campaign 2012 to find out your top spots in the city to photograph.

Scores of you including Karen Smith from Hylton Castle, Rebecca Raistrick from Washington and Michael Carmody from Hartlepool have entered their snaps – but we’re still looking for more.

The contest has been launched to coincide with a crammed calendar full of cultural and celebratory events in the city this year, with new celebrations such as those taking part around the Queen’s Jubilee to old favourites such as the Sunderland International Airshow.

As part of the competition, we are looking for enthusiastic people to take vibrant and inspiring photographs of their favourite places in Sunderland.

We want to see photographs reflecting what makes you proud of Sunderland; what activities you like to participate in, what attractions or areas of Sunderland you like to visit and what special events you like to attend.

Chris Alexander, head of culture and tourism at the city council, said: “We have a fabulous programme of events this year, with an event taking place most weekends over the summer months.

“From the high-adrenaline excitement at the Sunderland International Airshow to events celebrating sport and culture, this year will see a diverse range of events.

“It is really exciting to have three major concerts at the Stadium of Light as well as the Olympic Flame Celebratory Event which will ensure that everyone has a chance to participate in the Sunderland events programme in 2012.”
