Entertainer sought for wartime event

A TEAM is searching for a star to put in the spotlight.

The committee of Herrington Village Show, which is made up of a series of groups, needs an entertainer to lead its First World War centenary social evening.

It will follow on from one with a St George theme last year, which was hailed a success. This year’s event will be on Saturday, April 26, and will be held at Holy Rosary Parish Centre in Farringdon.

It will feature a pie and peas supper and a historical quiz, along with a hat competition called Hats of the Time.

Chairman of the show committee, Leslie Scott, said: “We need an entertainer to capture the mood of the night, and lead some community singing. We can do a small fee. Tickets will go on sale as soon as we finalise the entertainment.”
