Emmanuele Eboue is thought to have agreed a deal with Sunderland, despite his absence from the Under-21s' clash against Everton.

Right-back Eboue had been expected to feature for the U21s at the Stadium of Light, as the ex-Arsenal man continues to build up his fitness after being without a club since his release by Galatasary at the end of last season.

The 32-year-old is understood to have missed the encounter due to a minor knock, but he is still due to be unveiled by Sunderland on a short-term deal this week.

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce revealed last week that he had decided to hand Eboue a short-term contract until the end of the season after he had been impressed by the free agent during several weeks on trial at the Stadium of Light.

There are not thought to have been any hiccups to the deal, with the exit of fellow right-back Adam Matthews a sign of Eboue’s addition to Sunderland’s first-team squad.
