Emergency services called to incident at Queen Alexandra Bridge in Sunderland

Emergency services were called out to an incident at Sunderland’s Alexandra Bridge.

The Sunderland RNLI inshore lifeboat and Coastguard Rescue Team were among those called to the bridge shortly after 1.30pm today.

An RNLI statement said: “Our volunteers were paged and requested to launch their D Class inshore lifeboat to support emergency services with a police-led incident on Queen Alexandra Bridge.

“Thankfully shortly after launching the crew were informed that the incident had been successfully resolved and were cleared to return to station.”
