A coastguard spokesman said: "Once back in the marina we checked everything was OK and issued suitable safety advice."

On the previous evening, Monday July 23, the coastguard team was called to assist police dealing with a person on the wrong side of the railings at Marsden around 8.30pm.

The spokesman said: "A local team member arrived on scene and confirmed all was well and the rest of the team were stood down as we left the station as the person was safe with the police."

The coastguard team is urging the public to ring 999 in all coastal emergencies and ask for the coastguard.
