DURHAM University has been ranked as one of the best in the country.
The Complete University Guide 2013 named Durham as the country’s fifth best university – the same position it held in last year’s guide.
Sunderland was 89th on the list, which ranks 116 establishments, topped by Cambridge.
Durham was ranked in the top 10 nationally for 27 of the 34 subjects it offers, according to the league table which was published this week.
The good news for the institution follows its best ever performance in the Sunday Times University Guide, which placed Durham as the UK’s third best university.
Durham is also ranked among the world’s top 100 universities, and is in the top 15 globally for employer reputation when it comes to the quality of, and demand for, its graduates.
Professor Chris Higgins, vice-chancellor, said: “Our continually strong performance in this and other league tables highlights the unique opportunities on offer at Durham.”
