Sunderland students vote to join NUS

STUDENTS have voted in favour of rejoining the National Union of Students (NUS).

The University of Sunderland Student’s Union held a referendum on the issue.

President Tobias Barker said the there were 1,598 to 79 votes in favour of rejoining the national body.

He added: “We are already under way in planning how we can best work together moving forward.”

Sunderland was one of a few university union bodies not affiliated to the NUS.
