MORE than 100 youngsters are to get a day of anti-racism training in Sunderland.
While a race-row engulfs the Premier League, the Stadium of Light is hosting a special event to educate young people about the issue, run by Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC).
Schoolchildren from Wearside, South Tyneside and County Durham will take part in workshops on November 8.
They will watch a film featuring Thierry Henry, Samuel Eto’o, Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand and Didier Drogba, who describe their experiences of racism and offer advice on how to deal and combat it.
There will also be a Q&A session with current SAFC players and SRtRC’s team of ex-pros, including Gary Bennett.
Education manager Craig Bankhead said: “Using role models such as football players to get a positive message across is a really effective way of educating young people.”
