KIND-HEARTED Wearside students are raising cash for charity as part of their studies.

Sunderland College students started their fund-raising efforts with a family fun day at Seaham Leisure Centre and a dinner and disco at the Roker Hotel, collecting more than £1,000 for Cancer Research and Macmillan.

Andrea Chalk, curriculum leader of business and law at Sunderland College, said: “Our students organised all of the events as part of a group project. They have put so much effort in not only because they are conscientious young people, but because many of the students have lost a family member to cancer.

“They are really making a difference.”
