IT’S double trouble and triple the fun at a Sunderland play group.
A new group has been set up specifically aimed at Wearside families who have had multiple births.
Sunderland Children has launched the play sessions aimed at twins and triplets and their parents and carers.
Running every Monday, from 1.30pm to 3pm, at Austin House Family Centre, Southwick, the sessions are open to families with young twins and triplets to enjoy a free play space with other families.
Sunderland Children’s centres host a range of activities and provide a variety of services for families across Sunderland, with play sessions for children specially designed by qualified teachers to ensure real educational benefits.
Councillor Pat Smith, portfolio holder for Children’s Services, said: “Bringing up a child is a challenging thing for any parent, and for families with twins and triplets the hard work involved is doubled and tripled - so we want parents and carers to know that we are here to provide that extra support.
“The twins and triplets session hosted by the North centre is great for parents and carers to support their young ones’ development, as well as giving them the chance to meet other families and share stories, tips and experiences for dealing with two little ones.”
Sunderland Children - a council-run service - offers a range of services and activities for families, delivered from five main centres that are open six days a week – in the North, East, West, Coalfield and Washington areas of Sunderland.
Some of the centres also host late night sessions for families to attend after school.
