SISTERS Caroline and Dawn Crossley do everything together – even graduating.

The Sunderland pair, who even share the same birthday, were determined they wanted to graduate from the University of Sunderland together, despite studying different courses.

Dawn, 32, graduated with BA Social Work, and Caroline, 26, with Post Graduate Secondary Education Teaching, from the Stadium of Light.

Caroline should have graduated with her fellow students, the day before her sister – but this was unthinkable for the Wearside pair.

Dawn said: “Our motto is ‘Sisters by chance, friends by choice’.

“Because of the special bond between us we thought it would be much more special to graduate together. We are both very grateful to the university for allowing us to do this.”

Dawn originally studied a BA Photography degree at the university, but decided to retrain as a social worker and Caroline did her original degree, BA History, at Sunderland, and has now qualified as a history teacher.

Caroline said: “We provided support, help and encouragement to each other throughout our time at Sunderland.”
