Schoolchildren took a step back in time to learn what like was like during the First World War.
Youngsters at the West Area Heritage Event were taken around various tents where they were taught about the mining industry, the type of food on offer during the war, and what their homes would have looked like if they’d lived back then.
Ashleigh Blake, a teacher from New Silksworth Infant School, who visited the event, said: “The kids have been having a fabulous time.
“They’ve really enjoyed themselves but you can tell they’re learning too and I think this is something they’ll always remember.”
The event is open to schools again today and to the public tomorrow.
