A DURHAM school hosted a visit from Sri Lankan teachers.

The group, from Kandy, Sri Lanka, visited Belmont Infants School as part of the “Connecting with Classrooms” project, which creates links between schools in the UK and others around the world.

The scheme also helps youngsters get a better understanding of different cultures from a range of countries.

Teachers from the Belmont school paid their Sri Lankan counterparts a visit at the end of January.

Jan Wynn, headteacher, said: “We will continue to remain in contact with the school, by sharing work over email and by post.”

The school hopes to arrange a visit from Sri Lankan cricketers when they arrive in the country for the 2012 Olympics.
