Young people took to the stage to take part in a musical tribute to ‘The King’.

More than 80 students at Kepier academy in Houghton staged All Shook Up, a musical based on the songs of Elvis Presley.

Dave Brennan, community development and marketing manager at the Dairy Lane school, said: “As well as the learners involved on stage performing, there are around another 20 who helped out assembling the sets, moving these on and off stage during the performances, as well as the staff who give up their time.”

The show also involved members of the school’s newly-formed Parents, Teachers and Friends Association.

Dave said: “Whilst some of the cast have performed in these shows before, for many it was the first time they had performed on stage and to say they excelled themselves would be something of an understatement.”
