PUPILS have been rewarded for their good attendance.

A number of pupils at Hetton School were presented with prizes and certificates for regularly turning up for class, at the North Road school’s annual attendance and achievement awards.

Among them was Year 11 pupil Leanne Woods, who not only had 100 per cent attendance during her five years at the secondary school, she also had 100 per cent attendance throughout her junior school years.

The main achievement winners were: Milli Stowells, Year 7; Emily Ward, Year 8; Sam Blacklock, Year 9; Nathan Kindred, Year 10; and Kate Riley, Year 11.

Assistant headteacher Peter Howey said: “To be able to celebrate 100 per cent attendance with so many of our students was fantastic.”

He added: “Our students work hard on a daily basis and deserve the rewards they’ve received.”
