A SCHOOL that was placed in special measures is making good progress say Ofsted chiefs.

Hastings Hill Primary School, in Sunderland, was placed in special measures in March 2011, but inspectors said things were making good progress when they revisited the Tilbury Road school recently.

Hastings Hill Primary is due to become a sponsored academy in December this year after joining the We Inspire Success and Excellence, Academies Trust, which was formed when Town End Primary School and Bexhill Primary School converted to academy status.

Inspectors said this year Hastings Hill has had significant improvements in Key Stage 1 and the highest scores ever at Key Stage 2.
