GYM buddies have been showing off their new fitness equipment.

The youngsters at Northern Saints CofE Primary School have a fun way to keep in shape with their £17,000 outdoor gym.

The Red House school opened its doors to visitors from fellow primary schools to have a look at the equipment.

Northern Saints gym area consists of 10 workout stations, including a treadmill, cross trainer and sit-up area.

Headteacher Steve Williamson said: “It is very robust equipment, which will last for years. The exercises are quite challenging, even the teachers have been saying they should use is for boot camp training.

“Wherever we can we like to use local companies to do work for us and Infinite Playgrounds have done a really good job.”

Northern Saints CofE Primary School was established in September 2013 to replace the former Bishop Harland CofE Primary and Hylton Red House Primary. Extensive building work has been carried out at the former Hylton Red House Primary’s buildings to house the new school.
