Musicians on song for the Jubilee

A COUNTY Durham school is hoping to hit the right note to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

This year Durham Johnston’s theme for the school’s annual Spring Concert, which will be held on Monday, March 26, at 7pm, will be the jubilee.

Headteacher at the Crossgate Moor school, Carolyn Roberts, said: “It is good to make days of national celebration in school so that children remember them as they grow. Although the concert is early, we’ll also celebrate in June – break out the bunting.”

Guest of honour at the spring concert will be Sir Paul Nicholson, the Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham, who will be accompanied by his wife.

On the night there will be a diverse range of musical styles from the talented students, but each piece will in some way be linked to the theme of The Queen, royalty or the Diamond Jubilee.
