A VILLAGE school has been given an overhaul in the form of a brand-new reception area.
Pupils at East Rainton Primary School got to meet their local MP, Bridget Phillipson, who attended to cut the ribbon.
The youngsters were able to ask Ms Phillipson – MP for Houghton and Sunderland South – about her role during a question and answer session.
She said: “I was delighted to be invited to officially open the school’s new reception and office area.
“The school has already achieved an impressive Ofsted report and I am sure the new area combined with their improved sports facilities will help them to build further on that success.” Head teacher Sara Toole said: “East Rainton Primary school has invested in the future by building a spacious reception area and office area which improves the safety and security of the school.
“In addition, the school has dramatically improved the sports facilities with a multi-user games area.”
