MEDIA experts are heading to Sunderland to give youngsters practical tips on pursuing a career in the creative industries.
Channel 4’s 4Talent event takes place at Sunderland University tomorrow in the David Puttnam Media Centre, Sir Tom Cowie Campus, at St Peter’s.
Up to 100 young people will experience a packed day of industry talks, creative workshops and careers advice from the Channel 4 staff and experts.
Diane Herbert, director of human resources, said: “At Channel 4, we know that good ideas can come from anywhere.
“The creative industries have huge potential to provide growth and employment, and we want to make sure that nobody is excluded from that.”
Graeme Thompson, dean of arts, design and media at the university, said: “These events offer young people an opportunity to find out how the media industry works and to meet professionals who can offer advice on what skills, experience and attitude you need to build a career.
“There will also be a chance to hear from local industry about opportunities in the local area, as well as learning practical skills.”
