CATERING students from Sunderland College are challenging food critics to test their culinary skills.
The youngsters work in, and run, a professional restaurant, The Lounge Bistro and Bar, at the college’s Hylton campus.
However, they struggle to get foodies to take them at face value. Now they’ve issued an open invitation to critics to judge for themselves.
The students also plan to write to celebrity chefs asking them to pop in if they are in the area.
Kathryn Shepherd, front of house co-ordinator, said: “We’d love it if some food industry professionals would come along and give our students some hints, tips and inspiration.
“They are, after all, the next generation of catering experts in the making.”
