A WARM welcome is in store at a restaurant aiming to find the future Gordon Ramsays.
Kathryn Shepherd, 35, has been appointed the new front-of-house co-ordinator at Sunderland College’s Hylton Campus restaurant, The Lounge.
The Lounge is open to the public and supports more than 80 students training to be chefs, hospitality managers and front-of-house staff.
Kathryn, who hails from Durham City, began her own catering career at the age of 13, working in a coffee shop. Now she is passing her knowledge on to others.
She said: “Many people in Sunderland still aren’t aware just what a fantastic restaurant we have here and that they can come along for a meal.
“We’re keen to encourage more people from the community to visit The Lounge as it gives the students invaluable real-life experience. We have some very talented students who will go on to be fantastic chefs.”
Kathryn, who has worked for the Marriott Hotel group and Durham County Cricket Club, is responsible for the restaurant and conference facilities at the Hylton Campus.
The fully licensed restaurant is located on North Hylton Road and open to members of the public for lunch between noon and 2pm Monday to Friday and Thursday evenings between 7pm and 9.30pm. For more information or to book a table call 511 6270.
