A WEARSIDE school had to be partially evacuated following a chemical leak.

Fire fighters were called to Sandhill View School in Sunderland at 2.05pm yesterday where the leak had been found in a store cupboard.

A spokesman for Tyne and Wear Fire Brigade said: “A small amount of sulphuric acid had leaked out of a container.

“Firefighters were called to make the area safe and ventilate the store room.

“About 150 people were evacuated from the school as a precaution.”
