TEAMS of youngsters from schools in Wearside and County Durham built bridges and made robots at a technology day.
The event was hosted by New College, Durham, and included a range of science-based activities.
The bridge building group learned about the world’s strongest paper bridge before attempting to build one of their own.
Lego was the chosen construction material for the robot builders.
Others teams took part in a challenge to build a simple electric car, and create an e-fit after a member of staff posed as a thief.
Among the schools taking part were Biddick and Washington schools in Washington, and Houghton Kepier Sports College.
