COUNTY Durham’s newest school has launched its first prospectus.

The Apollo Studio Academy is due to open in September next year in Peterlee, working with businesses to give students access to a huge range of vocational qualifications and hands-on experience.

Now available for potential students and parents to order, the prospective gives key information about the Apollo Studio Academy, which will initially cater for pupils in Years 10 and 12, adding Years 11 and 13 in its second year of operation.

The Apollo Studio Academy is co-sponsored by the Academy at Shotton Hall, which was once again recently rated as outstanding by Ofsted, and East Durham College.

It has been specially designed to equip young people with the skills, knowledge and experience they require to succeed in the world of work, and employer partners include Caterpillar, Laing O’Rouke and Northumbrian Water.

Principal, Sally Hudson, said: “The students who join Apollo will experience an exciting and vibrant learning environment that encourages and develops independent thought, self-discipline, motivation and confidence.

“And, most importantly, help them to fit in fast in the workplace and make an immediate impact when they begin their chosen career.”
