After a consultation with residents regarding a scheme on the Village Green, Easington Village Parish Council will be hosting an open day in Seaton Holme on Saturdayfrom 10am-12.30pm to display suggestions to residents.
Plans for potential schemes for play/gym equipment and fencing will be shown and residents’ views requested on what they would prefer. Funding for the scheme for enhancement of open spaces is from a Section 106 agreement granted from a new housing development on the former council offices. Residents are encouraged to attend to make their views known. Hawthorn in the Spring Photograph Exhibition and Competition is now taking place. The parish council invites everyone to take photos of Hawthorn or the local area and either email directly or print off and send to: Coun Alan Askew, 7 Western Park, Hawthorn, or Lesley Swinbank Parish Clerk by April 30. All photos will be on display in the community centre and can be viewed at the next Big Lunch on Sunday June 5.
Easington Colliery Primary School held fantastic assembly, conducted by the Junior Road Safety Officers at the school, where they launched their second competition. Students are being asked to design an item that that be used in their seen be safe campaign and the competition will be judged once the Easter holidays are over.
Seaham and Easington Police and Communities Together meeting for Easington and Grants Houses will be held Wednesday, April 20, at 6pm.
Easington Village Women’s Institute will meet in Seaton Holme on Monday, April 18, at 7pm. The speaker is Fools Gold (Carol and Steve Robson) on The Waters of Tyne”. Visitors are welcome.
Robson Field will be appearing at Easington Colliery Social Welfare Centre on Saturday. Entry is £3.
Easington Colliery Primary School ‘Funny Run’ raised £2,083 for Sport Relief. They would like to thank all parents, family members and friends who sponsored the children. Outstanding.
A bingo evenings in aid of St Mary’s Church funds will restart tonight at 7.30pm in Seaton Holme. All are welcome.
St Mary’s Church annual parochial church meeting will be held in the church hall tomorrow at 7pm. Elections from church wardens at council members will take place. There will be reports on the work of the church and groups and the meeting is open to all.
A celebration for the Queen’s Birthday Party will be held on Monday, April 18, in Easington Colliery Methodist Church. Tickets are £5 from Sandra Atherton.
A great evening of entertainment featuring the international singing star Shirley Ann Turnbull with refreshments, raffle and bingo will be held in the Church of Ascension hall on Friday at 7pm, entertainment is by the fabulous The Seatones. Tickets still available at £3.50.
Easington Amateur Boxing Club, Inta-Fitness Gym, will be putting on a boxing showat the Easington Social Welfare Centre, Seaside lane, on Thursday, April 21. The doors open at 6.30pm. There will be 12 bouts of boxing, with different age groups and weights. Opponents are travelling from Harrogate, Barnard Castle, Newcastle and Sunderland areas. Tickets are available from Inta- Fitness Gym, School street, or £12 on door, children under-eight years pay £6.
