A sponsored Zumbathon was held at Easington C of E Primary School and raised £450. Thank you to those families who helped raise the money that will go towards the purchase of new dining tables.

East Durham Homes recently welcomed a new apprentice into the organisation. Jade Lawton, 19, from Hetton, has secured a Business Administration Apprentice role, working in the communications and marketing team. Over the next 18 months she will get experience in the different areas of the business to understand what a housing provider does, as well as studying for a NVQ qualification in the subject through East Durham College. She previously studied business and IT at college. The new recruit’s arrival highlights East Durham Homes commitment to supporting young people into the workplace.

The Lisa Dixon Centre will be holding a Christmas fair from 10am to 3pm. There will be toy stalls, tombolas, home-baked goods, Santa’s Grotto and lots more.

The Salvation Army invites those from all denominations to its weekly events in Crawlaw Road. Baby and toddlers meet Tuesdays from 9.30am to 11am. The Kid’s Game’s Club for school age children meet on Thursdays from 6pm to 7.45pm. A lunch club for all with homemade meals is held from 11am to 1pm and the Sunday Service is from 3pm to 4pm.

Hawthorn Community Centre is holding a free craft fair on Saturday from 10am to 2pm. There will be refreshments and stalls with wood turning, jewellery, knitwear and knitted toys, homemade cakes and specialised chocolate and the Shaw Trust with Christmas garden accessories.

A Rock’n’Roll night with the Memphis Rollers will be held in Easington Colliery Social Welfare Centre on Saturday. Entry will be £5 on the door.

Easington Colliery Primary School Wear it Pink Day in aid of Breast Cancer Research raised an amazing £566. Thank you to everyone who took part, donated, and bought cakes.

A Social Night with music by Tracy Dee will be held in The Church of Ascension hall on Friday, November 27, with bingo and refreshments. Please contact Roger Key for tickets at £3.

Plants R Ross will be holding Christmas open evenings tomorrow and Thursday from 6pm to 8.30pm. There will lots of gift ideas and tasty treats. Tickets are available from Plants R Ross (half of ticket proceeds will be donated to a nominated charity).
