Durhm Alliance Combination League: Cain is able as Horden sink Farringdon for sixth win out of seven

Horden Community Welfare made it six wins out of seven as they consolidated pole position with a good away victory.

Man of the match Michael Cain struck twice to spark a 5-2 success at fellow newcomers Farringdon Detached.

David Thompson, Joe Bell and sub Hayden Pace also got in on the act, while Perri Agnew and Craig Stewart fired the home consolations.

Jordan Rungen was Farra’s stand-out performer.

Champions Wheatley Hill WMC stayed three points off top spot, with a game in hand, after coming out on top 6-4 in a thriller at Seaton United.

Nathan Stoker and sub Kyle Middleton both plundered doubles to help guide Wheatley to their fifth win of the season.

Steven O’Neil and Brett Carr also struck, with Joe Smith their man of the match.

Ash Griffiths fired a treble for Seaton, with Stephen Gales making it four.

Meanwhile, in the South Durham Bowl, West Auckland Tunns exited 3-0 at home to Middlestone Moor Masons Arms, from the Crook and District League.

The visitors were ahead inside two minutes with a Mason Morrow striker and Tunns’ chances never recovered from a 10th-minute red card. Morrow completed a hat-trick for the visitors.
