DURHAM City Rotarians donated more than £25,000 to charity in the past year.

More than 25 organisations were given money, including Durham Hospital Radio, Framwellgate Scout Group, Samaritans and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

“It is impossible to imagine life in Durham City and district without the voluntary sector,” said Patrick Conway, President of the Rotary Club of Durham.

“We are pleased and proud to be dedicating much of the money we have raised to a wonderful range of charities which make such a difference within our communities.”

Rotarians also provide stewards for the annual fireworks display at Aykley Heads, and they helped marshal the Olympic Torch Relay when it passed through Durham City.

Details of all the donations are on the club’s website: www.durham.rotaryweb.org
