Tomorrow the Oriental Museum offers families the opportunity to find out about the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival and decorate their own dragon boat.

On Friday the museum will host a session talking about how India is home to an amazing array of animals and will invite families to find out more about them and make an animal mask to wear. On Saturday, you can find out about ancient Egyptian mummies and make your own as well as start the process of mummifying a banana to finish at home. Activities at the museum take place from 1pm to 3pm.

On Saturday evening vocalist Samantha Mac appears at Brandon and Meadowfield RBL Club. Further information on forthcoming attractions is available from club steward Colin Young on 0191 378 0037.

On Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 3pm, Palace Green Library says it’s your turn to write the rules and to design your own Magna Cartato take home.

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday between 10am and 4pm, the Botanic Garden silversmith Les Howe and his wife Vivienne, an artist and card designer, will be demonstrating their skills.

On Sunday Mill House on Littleburn Industrial Estate, Meadowfield, hosts a car boot sale. Sellers are to arrive at 11am and buyers at 12.30pm.
