Durham City MP quits as Labour shadow minister in Jeremy Corbyn row
Durham City MP Roberta Blackman-Woods has resigned from Jeremy Corbyn's shadow team.
Dr Blackman-Woods, who served as Shadow Housing Minister, is the latest MP to resign from Labour's top benches as pressure mounts against Mr Corbyn.
The opposition leader announced a new Shadow Cabinet lineup this morning after a series of resignations on Sunday. He has also received strong support from loyalists and grassroots party members.
"However, I think the qualities of a leader must go beyond this and inspire, represent a wide range of Labour Party opinion, and most important of all, connect with the public to communicate Labour's message and shape it by listening to voters' concerns."
